How to Recruit Hidden Talent [INFOGRAPHIC]

How to Recruit Hidden Talent [INFOGRAPHIC] In today’s world of serial applicants, recruiters are having trouble finding top talent. Most recruitment processes are costly and ineffective. Hiring managers are bogged down by unqualified applicants and an excess of resumes. In fact, Bradford Smart, president of the recruiting firm Smart Associates, says that only  25 percent of hires are considered top performers. Worldwide, companies spend an estimated  $120 billion  per year on recruiting. The Novo Groups 2012 HR and Recruiting Trends Survey  reported 78 percent of HR leaders naming the search for top talent as their number one challenge. But if all of this money and effort results in only one in four top performers, there has to be a better way. Social recruiting could be the answer. By reaching out to passive talent on industry sites where they are already active, recruiters can attract candidates who might not otherwise apply. The infographic below, compiled by  RemarkableHire,  a talent sourcing platform that uses social evidence to help recruiters and hiring managers find and evaluate the best job candidates, explores the ways social media can help reach passive talent and offer recruiters a better candidate pool. Personal Growth Is For You, Not Them - Classy Career Girl

Personal Growth Is For You, Not Them Since change is constant, we naturally adjust our lives accordingly for our personal growth, especially when it feels like we’ve hit rock bottom. As much as I enjoy the challenge of working towards my personal growth and professional goals in the midst of the ebbs and flows of life changes, there are many things that can be quite frustrating about the process. If you find yourself frustrated, it may be time to draw boundaries so you can reduce obstacles that may be holding you back. There are a number of uncontrollable factors whenever we are in a transition period. One difficult to control variable is friends and family. It’s rough when you are excited about new resolutions and working towards those goals but your inner circle doesn’t resonate with you. Sometimes it may be one close friend that just doesn’t seem to get it, other times it may feel like it’s your close friends or your entire family that aren’t as supportive as you’d like them to be. 3 Things to Do When Other People Dont Agree With  Your Personal Growth 1. Understand not everyone has to get it. Yes, its extremely frustrating when some of the people that have always supported you through the ups and downs just don’t see eye to eye. If you really want them to come on board, just meet them on the other side when you get there. No worries, we‘ll always attract the right people along the way when we are at our best and doing what we enjoy, working towards our personal growth and chosen profession. You’ll also attract the right people back too! 2. Brace Yourself Our friends and family want the best for us. Sometimes their warnings and unwelcome comments instill doubts even when it’s coming from a good place. So brace yourself! Sometimes it may take months or years but when you get to where you want to be in your personal and professional life, the right people will always be drawn back. 3. Take a Break Sometimes it may be more appropriate to take a break from naysayers or spend less time discussing a particular topic that keeps being met with push-back and judgement. Other times it may be time to completely cut ties to spare yourself from tense conversations and negativity that slows down your personal growth as well as professional development. You just have to listen to your gut and do what feels right for you when it comes to your dreams. [RELATED: The 7 Best Personal Development Tips to Guarantee Success] When you take a step back from the noise of other people’s voices, only then can you hear your own voice. You’ll then be able to move forward towards that dream goal with clarity and take action driven by inspiration. As you approach your goals and your personal growth becomes visible, the people who did not originally resonate with you may begin to understand you once they see how much better off you are with the changes you made in your life. My Journey My new website, Silver Lined Days, is proof of all of the above steps. Throughout 2012, I was extremely frustrated with my career. In fact, it started years before that. But I hit a breaking point with colleagues, managers, and just about everyone except my dog. I felt that I outgrew my career over the last two of the seven years I worked in the public sector. It was time to reevaluate my values, passions, and personal growth goals. Once I figured out what I wanted and what changes I needed to make, I was filled with excitement and inspiration. But not everyone was keen on the idea behind Silver Lined Days. Two of my closest friends were risk adverse and warned against startups. My mother, bless her heart, has always been about sticking it out to the very end. So I decided to only talk about my idea with a few people that resonated with me and understood my passion. I felt energized and was able to focus on my dream goal without the background noise. There were times when I ran on very little sleep for months. It goes without saying, there were meltdowns and these friends and mentors were able to keep me going. Fast forward to the successful launch of Silver Lined Days. My risk adverse friends and commitment loving mother eventually saw how much happier I was when doing work that I loved. They were always looking out for my best interest but their concerns weren’t helping when I knew deep down inside I needed to take a leap of faith. So if your gut is telling you to make changes in your life and focus on your personal growth, draw boundaries where necessary. Accept that not everyone is going to be on board when you are taking inspired action. No need to feel guilty as the only guilt you may feel is if you look back and wished you tried!

5 Strategies to Boost Sales for the New Year - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

5 Strategies to Boost Sales for the New Year - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career 1. Your favorite client Out of all of the clients you currently have, who is your favorite and why? This question is important on a number of levels. The first reason is, in my opinion, as long as you work, you may as well enjoy it as best you can. Seriously consider the traits of the person or people involved, their type of company and industry, and the past conversations you have had that makes working with them among your favorites. By developing a prototype of those with whom you prefer to work, you will more easily find similar others thereby developing a clientele that brings you joy in addition to increased revenue. Lastly, effective selling includes a two-way conversation with give and take. Usually when you enjoy another, they feel the same way about you. This encourages excellent word of mouth, referrals and testimonials. 2. Current clientele The holidays provide the perfect timing to connect with everyone who purchased from you during the year. Pick up the phone to either have a conversation or leave a thoughtful message. Words indicating, “I was thinking of you and wanted to wish you a happy holiday” will have a long lasting effect. Why is this true? Has anyone ever done this for you? Probably not! This is where you will firmly etch your personal brand into the minds of your clientele. Once again you demonstrate you go out of your way to serve your clients thereby encouraging repeat business, referrals and testimonials. 3. Previous clientele Sadly, some clients come and go for one reason or another. After you have reconnected with your current clientele, consider also calling your past clients who come to mind. Similar to the introduction, “I was just thinking of you”, ask what their outlook is for next year in terms of anticipated new projects. Should the previous client be receptive, you just might find a new outlet to develop renewed business. 4. Wish list Are you making a list and checking it twice? What is at the top of your wish list? Is it time to turn some of these into reality? Should you be fairly new at creating new services or products, begin with those that require the smallest learning curve and least expense. But, if you are adept at implementing change, then go for the idea that appeals to you most. Make the commitment you will do “whatever it takes” to get the job done well. As you build a variety of offerings, you exponentially build out your client potential and will ultimately see a larger return on investment. 5. Good wishes What would Santa do? Greet everyone you meet with a smile and good wishes for the holiday season and New Year. As a businessperson, take the greeting a few steps further to ask others about their new plans for the coming year. More in-depth conversations may reveal a new plan where you suddenly recognize a collaborative approach will benefit both of you while attracting wider audiences. Never interview like Will Ferrell in Step Brothers

Never interview like Will Ferrell in Step Brothers 0 Flares 0 Flares While certainly hilarious, this short clip from Step Brothers teaches us exactly how not to interview.  Below youll find the link to quite arguably the funniest scene in Step Brothers.  Watch as Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly tag team the interview, then come back for my take: What have we learned: The interview is not the most important day of your life like they say in the clip.  Dont put that stress on yourself.  If it doesnt work out, youll find yourself on another interview before you know it! Never wear a tuxedo to an interview.  Hilarious, but some organizational cultures will even allow a candidate to wear jeans to an interview. Bring a fresh copy of your resume, however, leave your best friend at home. Not understanding a name is common, if that happens just move away from the topic all together.  Oh, and who knew there was no D at the end of Pam? Never, absolutely never tell your interviewer to shut their mouth.  You saw what happened. Most times candidates receive a few parting gifts after their interview, usually a pen or folder.  Asking for a souvenir will only bring you a rejection letter in the mail. Cheers!
